Back in September of ’09, the Backstreet Boys returned with their latest album, This is Us. The album debuted at number nine on the Billboard album chart and has since fallen off, which is unfortunate because the track “Straight Through My Heart” is a fantastic song.

Here’s what the Boys have to say about their album and tour…

Howie Dorough says he’s proud of the record…

“It feels great, you know. We feel we put together a great body of work that really truly represents the Backstreet Boys, with our signature sound, with our pop melodies, our harmonies and a little bit of pop R&B, a little bit of Euro-electric kind of sound. And we feel like it’s one of our best bodies of work to date. It’s very reminiscent of the style of records that people knew back in the day, like the Millennium album, the Black and Blue album.”

And Nick Carter says there’s no place he would rather be than on tour…

“We’re definitely ready, especially to be on tour in the States. You get a chance to be on a bus and just travel the country and see the places that we’ve been traveling since we were… for 17 years… in the very beginning, because that’s where we started, was in the States, and that’s the country that we had to first get our feet on the ground and get our music out there, so touring here is definitely special to us.”

The Backstreet BoysThis Is Us tour rolls into Broomfield, CO tonight – and the boys will be rolling through NYC on August 26th at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Boy band fans got a tuneful surprise Saturday night at New York’s Radio City Music Hall when the Backstreet Boys made a surprise appearance at the New Kids on the Block concert.

“You get two for the price of one tonight,” Nick Carter told the screaming crowd.

The New Kids on the Block – Joey McIntyre, 37, Donnie Wahlberg, 40, Danny Wood, 41, and brothers Jordan, 40, and Jonathan Knight, 41 – were sitting in front of a white curtain bantering when they launched into the Backstreet Boys’s 1999 hit “I Want It That Way,” an hour into the concert.

A few weeks ago I had mentioned that BSB had a show in Rhode Island on August 25 and not too long after finding this date it was no longer listed on ticketmasters website. Now instead on that date there’s a show in Pittsburgh.

August 25 – Pittsburgh, PA – Total Trib Media Ampitheater at Station Square

Tickets are $39.50 to 75.00. It’s reserved seating. A presale on ticketmaster is June 23 at 10am. Tickets go on sale for the general public June 26 at 12pm. For more info go to ticketmaster.com.

On the boys official site a presale has been announced for those in the FC for Wednesday at 12:30pm ET.

I’m excited they are doing a show in my city. I will definetly be going.

    The Backstreet Boys are back.

The singing quartet — Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and A.J. McLean — have sold more than 76 million records worldwide and won a bucketload of MTV Music Awards on both sides of the Atlantic, VH1 Music Awards, Teen Choice Awards and Grammy Nominations.

The group has also seen two of its albums (“Backstreet Boys” and “Millennium”) sell more than 10 million copies each.

As recent at 2008, the boys were voted No. 2 and 3 on MTV’s TRL list for Top 10 Best Boy Band and Most Iconic Video, respectively, for “I Want It That Way.”

Brian recently did a interview with Windy City Times and was asked about leaving Jive and the next album.

WCT: The big news that you posted May 27 on your website, under the title, “Freedom,” is that you are no longer singing for Jive Records. What does freedom mean for the Backstreet Boys’ career moving forward?

BL: It’s simply continuing to move forward, to make new memories. A lot of people are stuck with what was of the Backstreet Boys a few years ago. And there’s a lot of songs to be sung, a lot of music to be made, a lot of shows and a lot of tours to come for us in the future. And I think the freedom that we have really is to be ourselves, to continue to make music that makes us happy first because as long as we’re happy with it and content with it then we can continue to share it with the world.

WCT: Did your contract with Jive expire or was it a mutual parting of the ways?

BL: Not to get into crazy, crazy detail but we have one more record to deliver to Jive but we were able to get out of that contract based upon giving them a certain territory where they can market the record, that being Japan. Japan is our number-one market, Japan and Southeast Asia. So they wanted to keep that market because of the money being made there. So it’s basically a win-win for them but it’s also a win-win for us in regards to really being able to cut our ties to focus on new memories and new goals that we can set as a group and as a band.

Nick posted on twitter earlier that he does not have a private facebook. So if you are following someone on facebook saying they are Nick it’s not him. It’s a poser.

nickcarter Just so everyone knows. I DO NOT have a private face book page.
