ABC News posted details of a police report made.
Leslie Carter suffered from an overdose and was under the influence of several drugs before her death, according to an incident report obtained by ABCNews.com from officials who responded to her family’s 911 call.
The report lists three drugs that were found near Leslie: Olanzapine, used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, Cyclobenzaprine, a muscle relaxant, and Alprazolam, used to treat anxiety or panic disorders, commonly known as Xanax.
The report reveals that Ginger Carter, Leslie’s stepmom, told authorities that Leslie had “a long history of mental illness and was on medication for her depression.” Ginger said that Leslie seemed depressed the morning of Jan. 30 and fell in the shower. Ginger helped Leslie lie down and periodically checked on her. Late in the afternoon, she discovered that Leslie was not breathing. Robert Carter, Leslie’s father, tried to perform CPR on her. Ginger then called 911.

Currently the cause of death is unknown and according to HollywoodLife, the Erie County Coroner’s Office reports that it will take four to six weeks until the toxicology report is complete — after that, the family should have some answers as to Leslie’s cause of death. Nick Carter sold more than 130 million albums with the Backstreet Boys. Now he’s released his second solo album, I’m Taking Off. Carter plays Paradise Rock Club on Feb. 6.
How does performing solo compare to doing a big arena show with the Backstreet Boys?
I enjoy it. I have a four-piece band and I play guitar. There are some things that are similar but for the most part, it’s like a pop-rock show. It allows me to get close with the fans and get personal with them, instead of having them see from the nosebleed sections. I’m fortunate to be able to play venues that size, but I can touch their hands and stuff. I’d rather go see a band in a smaller venue, anyway.
Doesn’t it shrink the production value?
We definitely pushed it to the limit with the solo tour. I felt that it was important to put costumes in it, give it a theme. It’s a spacey-type theme. Me and my band are arriving from outer space and then kind of take off. I come out with a space helmet and space suit. It’s really cool. Everything has come from my mind. It had to be entertaining. The last time I did a solo record, I just got up in front of a mic and sang. It was boring.

If you’re looking to get on Nick Carter’s good side, address him as Lord Balgrott, his “World of Warcraft” character. The former teen heartthrob is such a fan of the online role-playing game that he changed his Twitter avatar to an illustration of the white-bearded guild leader.
It’s not the type of career move — yes, social media management is a part of the game in 2012 — many would expect from the handsome, blue-eyed member of the Backstreet Boys. But compared to his pop peers, Carter, 31, has had one of the strangest career arcs, full of chart-topping hits and embarrassing personal lows.
Drinking, as evidenced by a 2005 DUI arrest, was the cause of many of the singer’s problems.
“My main vice of choice was alcohol, but to the extent of overindulgence and abuse,” Carter said.
It all came to a head in 2008, when Carter was diagnosed with the life-threatening heart disease cardiomyopathy, a result of his hard-partying lifestyle. It got so bad, Carter told People magazine in 2009, that he “went nuts” with alcohol and cocaine the night before the test results came back.

As a Boyband Enthusiast, the first album I remember listening to was the Jackson 5. The first concert I attended was the New Kids on the Block. And though for several years in the 90’s, it seemed boybands might become extinct, by the time I got to college, the craze had circled back around with a vengeance. I attended my first Backstreet Boys concert in 2001 and had a blast, but I didn’t really get to see what all the fuss was about until last summer, when I attended four shows on the NKOTBSB tour and came away from the experience a full-blown Backstreet Boys fan.
Though all four guys elicit ear-piercing squeals from the ladies, it seems none so much as its youngest member and, coincidentally, my fellow Nashvillian, Nick Carter. And while Backstreet Boys will head overseas with the New Kids on the Block this spring to continue their wildly successful run, Nick has a little business to tend to on the homefront first – a nationwide solo tour. His latest solo effort is aptly titled “I’m Taking Off” – why? “I felt like this was my moment,” explains Nick. “I’m rising to the occasion and taking off.” As an accomplished writer, producer, and director, with a solo career that has resulted in more than one million albums sold worldwide, and the next leg of the NKOTBSB tour on the horizon, it seems the Backstreet Boy has become a Backstreet Man. And who better to weigh in on mysterious male behavior?
